The first Paulée de New York was a small affair. A select group of winemakers - all great friends with Daniel Johnnes - gathered at Drew Nieporent’s restaurant Montrachet in TriBeCa in March 1992 to share their wines at an intimate BYO Burgundy dinner. In 2000, Daniel produced this on a larger scale, and 20 years later, La Paulée has become a multi-day festival culminating in a Gala Dinner with over three hundred Burgundy-lovers in attendance.
In honor of our 20th anniversary, we pay homage to the original Paulée de New York at this dinner with each of the original vignerons who believed in this crazy idea all those years ago - Christophe Roumier, Dominique Lafon, Etienne Grivot, Jean-Pierre de Smet, Chisa Bize, Jeremy Seysses, and Jean-Marc Roulot, as well as Alain Graillot of the northern Rhône. All of them will pour one wine from the year 2000 and one wine of their choice.

La Paulée Lunch: “Les Petits des Grands”
Regional Appellations from Great Winemakers
12:00pm Champagne Delamotte Reception
Franks Wine Bar - 465 Court Street, Brooklyn, NY 11231
Burgundy is a relatively small winemaking region, and the most coveted wines are rarer still. Premier Cru wines make up around 12% of the region’s total production, and Grand Cru only 2%. In fact, 50% of Burgundy’s production is in the regional appellations - Bourgogne Blanc & Rouge, Aligoté, Passetoutgrains, and the like. We are excited to highlight these regional appellations made by great winemakers with the same care and attention they give to their Grands and Premiers Crus.
This convivial lunch at Franks Wine Bar in Brooklyn will feature the wines of Domaine d’Angerville, Dominique Lafon, Domaine Mugneret-Gibourg, Domaine Roulot, and Domaine Roumier, paired with the cuisine of Chefs Frank Castronovo & Frank Falcinelli (“The Franks”).

presented by NetJets
7:00 pm Champagne Salon Reception
Legacy Records - 517 West 38th Street, New York, NY 10018
One of Burgundy’s most celebrated estates in the Côte de Nuits, Domaine Georges Roumier makes incredibly soulful and delicious wines from some of the best terroirs in Chambolle-Musigny and Morey-Saint-Denis. This extraordinarily rare dinner with Christophe Roumier, the fourth generation to run the family estate, will feature a number of wines from the domaine’s cellars, as well as two wines from noted collector Jordi Oriols-Gil (“JOG”), promising impeccable provenance. Along with a special tasting menu by Chef Ryan Hardy of Legacy Records guests will enjoy a series of some of the best vintages of Clos de la Bussière, Bonnes-Mares, and Amoureuses, culminating with a mind-blowing side-by-side of Bonnes-Mares “Vieilles Vignes” 1988 and Musigny 1988, both in magnum. Musigny is Christophe’s rarest and most special wine, as he makes only one barrel a year, while the Bonnes-Mares “Vieilles Vignes” cuvée was only made once - in 1988.
